Summary

A Second World War type 22 pillbox is visible on Neatherd Moor on 1940s and later aerial photographs. It was reportedly demolished around 1970.

Neatherd Moor.
Site of pillbox, on moor at former road junction. Polygonal. D. Fox (NAU), remembers climbing on it when a boy. Removed at some unknown date around 1970.

The Second World War type 22 pillbox described above is visible on aerial photographs, such as S2 and S3. As described above, and as evident on more recent aerial photography (such as S4), it has been demolished. A Second World War practice trench and possibly associated banks or fences have been recorded 25m to its northeast (NHER 68064).
