Summary

This area has been subject to fieldwalking on a number of occasions. Finds recovered include worked flints of Mesolithic and later prehistoric date and medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds.

1980s. Finds from OS 1928 Field 428.
Worked flints and medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds were recovered.

November 1992. Casual surface find.
A rim (largish sherd) from an unglazed Grimston bowl of 12th century date was recovered.

April 1994. Casual surface find.
One flint flake was recovered near the centre of the southern edge of the field after cultivation.

2006-mid March 2007. Fieldwalking.
Various struck flints recovered including:
Single-platform blade core of probable Mesolithic date.
Single-platform flake core and remnant of blade core. Both probably Neolithic.
Four scraper (two end scrapers, thumbnail scraper and one on a tertiary flake). All probably Bronze Age.
Fifty-six flakes. Mixed periods but mostly small and irregular.
Medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds also recovered.
