Map

Ice-house. Covered an ice well dug in 1720; disused by 1874. Ice was brought from the lake and packed in straw. (Photograph in (S1)). The early date of disuse is surprising in view of the brickwork, which is 19th century. Long red brick tunnel, ogee outer entrance, marks of outer and central doors. Bricked up where it joins chamber, which is visible through two holes in now exposed dome. Deep shaft. Ruinous.
Information from (S2).
E. Rose (NAU), 23 November 1978.

As of 1992: Tunnel is bricked up at far end and there is a hole in the dome. Otherwise structurally sound.
