Summary

Metal detecting at this location undertaken from 1992 to 2000 recovered a range of multi period metal objects. Noteworthy artefacts comprised a Bronze Age/Roman circular-sectioned ring, a medieval 'cup' weight from set of nesting 'weights' and a post medieval lead token inscribed with the initial 'A'.

1992. Metal detector finds.
1) Cast bronze circular-sectioned ring ?date, ?Bronze Age or Roman.
2) Roman bronze twisted bracelet fragment.
3) Late Saxon lower part of bronze tongue-shaped strap end. Cast low relief ornament, very stylised version of Winchester style.
4) Medieval bronze 'cup' weight, from set of nesting 'weights'. Stamped dot-in-circle around rim. Weight of 13g or 0.5oz.

13th century half-round (hollow) casket mount, with rivet hole, and decorated with transverse grooves inlaid with twisted wire. Polaroid (S2) in file.

10th century Borre-style disc brooch. Pierced lug and catch-plate on reverse made in the same way (catch-plate has edge cut to function properly).
