Summary

Monitoring of pipeline work in 1993 discovered a 19th century rubbish pit, containing post medieval pottery, coins and a lead mould for making shot.

February-November 1993. Watching Brief.
Brundall to Whitlingham Rising Main (Field 2667).
Initial fieldwalking and metal-detecting where possible, followed by observation of stripped easement and, where deemed necessary, monitoring of the excavation of the pipe trench itself.
Finds recovered during intial survey included prehistoric worked flints.
When the topsoil was removed a ?Victorian rubbish dump was seen (at approx. [1]) and at the south edge of the field (next to Postwick Lane) a spread of brown silt sand contained post medieval pottery and 2 post medieval coins/tokens and a lead mould for shot.
