Summary

Metal-detecting at this site during the period 1993-2002 recovered a wide variety of objects. Finds included part of a Bronze Age palstave, an Iron Age or Roman mount, an Early Saxon pendant decorated with a human face, a pair of Middle or Late Saxon tweezers and post medieval German jettons. Metal-detecting in 2009 recovered Neolithic worked flints; Late Saxon and medieval pottery; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; and various Romano-British, medieval and post-medieval metal objects. Metal-detecting in 2010 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins, medieval and post-medieval jettons, and medieval, medieval/post-medieval, post-medieval and undatable metal objects including a medieval mount, buckles, vessel escutcheon and seal matrix and a post-medieval coin weight, buckles, thimbles and cloth seal. Metal-detecting in 2010-11 recovered a post-medieval coin, Roman, medieval and post-medieval metal objects including a Romano-British seal box lid, medieval buckle and post-medieval sword belt mount.

Late medieval gilded bronze rowel spur fragment, six pointed rowel complete, in long armed rowel 'box' each arm decorated with stamped dots. Knob terminal on crest at back of heel. Arms of spur broken off.

Rare Early Saxon bronze pendant, with face mask and horned headdress. Face has staring eyes, moustache and neat pointed beard. Hair also neatly represented. Polaroid (S1) in file. See drawing (S2).

Medieval half a gilded (both sides) bronze disc, three pierced rivet holes. Double contour line borders. Difficult to see if decorated.

Half early post-medieval stud, convex lentoid, remains of spike on reverse. (Belt or harness.)
Half early post-medieval buckle and triangular pin rest.
Early post-medieval convex disc headed stud, spike on reverse.
