Summary

Metal detecting recovered 1993 and 2017 recovered a medieval coin, medieval and post-medieval tokens; aswell as three 1st century AD Roman brooches, and a wonderful Early Saxon gilded silver zoomorphic mount.

Roman brooch - Colchester type two piece.
Wonderful gilded silver Early Saxon mount, square with pierced lobes for attachment, one having a bronze rivet. Chip-carved ornament in form of style I animal with eye under V-shaped eye brow, and beautifully fitting into the square panel. One the side opposite the two lobes is an animal mask (mid-rib with stamped triangle and eye on each side). Borders of the square field have stamped triangle ornament.
