Summary

A flint and brick barn dated 1694 with a tie beam roof. There are intact carpenters marks on some of the roof timbers.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Barn. Dated 1694. Flint with brick dressings and brick. Asbestos roof. 5 bays. Large doors now to second and third bays of south side. One slit opening to each bay with brick reveals, brick splay to interior."

January 1993.
Barn dated 1694 with 'RAH' on a tiebeam.
Flint walls with plinth and brick quoins. Internal division may be original. Ventilation slits.
Roof of six tie beams defining seven bays, including two threshing bays; ties on arched braces, some removed, from short walls posts without corbels. However principal rafters define fourteen bays; all common rafters removed. Three orders butt purlins with wind braces on central. Two collars to each principal. Intact sequence of carpenters numbers.
