Summary

An evaluation excavation carried out by the Norfolk Archaeological Unit in 1993 revealed several pits and post holes containing medieval and post medieval pottery, a post medieval buckle and a clay pipe.

September 1993. Trial Trenching.
Various pits and post holes with no dating evidence, perhaps not of great age.
No trace of buildings marked on (S1).
Topsoil produced a few medieval/post medieval sherds, clay pipe and post-medieval buckle.
Surprising lack of medieval occupation raises questions as to extent of town within defences.
