The icehouse served Northwold Lodge (now Northwold Hall, NHER 65743) and lies within Northwold Lodge landscape park ( NHER 65744). It is mentioned in a poem by George West of Brandon, written after his visit to the property in 1858-59 (See the poem in publication (S2)). He writes that it was covered in a mound, topped with a weeping ash and beneath the tree there was a seat.
