Externally unremarkable house, (S1) says late 18th century; two bays, two storeys with 1 1/2 storey lean to (no.11) to south; roughcast; later shop fronts (now cafe). Original south wall of no.9 revealed inside as flint at base and 18th/19th century brick higher up. Ground floor no.9 crossed by large beam with large flat stops of late medieval/16th century type. Not examined in detail but is this a one storey and attic house of latter date heightened in around 1800?
E. Rose (NLA), 31 January 1994.
Building now derelict and boarded up. However, the north wall has bricks iwth both diagonal and horizontal skintlings, indicating a date between 1770 to 1780. The south wall of no 11 has horizontals alone but probably the brick skin and extension is all of one date.
E. Rose (NLA), 15 July 1999.
