Summary

This large brick mansion was built in the late 16th century and incorporates one timber framed truss of two periods of construction, perhaps once the gable of an adjacent house. The building was given a new facade, extended and raised in the 18th century, and a south wing was added around 1800. Its Grade II listing designation explicity includes the front wall of its forecourt (NHER 65100).

Listing Description excerpt:
"Norfolk House, including forecourt wall, railings and gates.
18th century, brick plastered and colourwashed. Pantiled gabled and hipped roof with projecting sprocketted eaves cornice. Two storeys. Sash windows with glazing bars. Projecting flat roofed porch with freestanding Doric columns and pilasters. Moulded door surround. Forecourt with brick front boundary wall and wrought iron railings and double gates."
