Summary

Metal detecting at this location in 1994 and 1998 unearthed a small selection of multi period metal objects. Finds consisted of a medieval coin of Edward I, a late medieval spur fragment, a post medieval jetton and a Roman plate brooch.

Late medieval five-pointed rowel from spur, with engraved lines. Traces of gilding.

1998. Metal detecting.
Post medieval jetton. See list in file with grid reference.
Roman almost complete lozenge-shaped plate brooch. Diamond shaped face with raised border and linear circle surrounded by raised diamond. Inner circle holds traces of orange enamel. Outer field now empty (traces of red enamel). Protruding knops top and bottom, both broken (old breaks). The top one has hinge mechanism on back. Pin missing. No catchplate remains. Second century AD.
Probably found at location [1], but possible muddle with NHER 30376.
