Summary

Metal-detecting between 1994 and 2015 recovered a Neolithic flint flake; a medieval roof tile fragment; Late Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and Late Iron Age/Roman to Early Saxon and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch; a silver circular disc, thought to be the bezel from a Roman finger ring; Early Saxon brooches, a spangle and girdle hanger; medieval buckles, a strap-end and a bar mount; a medieval/post-medieval buckle and weight and a post-medieval hinge plate.

Full Description

8 August 1994. Metal detecting.
D-shaped 13th century buckle frame. Narrow pin bar mostly missing; wide resting bar with wavy inner edge and almost vulvate notch with flanking ridges serving as pin rest.
Find spot is near edge of pit shown accurately on 1:10560 (S1) but not on 1:10,000 (S2).
