Summary

Faden's map of 1797 indicates a turnpike was present on this site. This tollhouse has been demolished, but a single storey reconstruction of carrstone and yellow brick is situated very close by, and was built in 1979.

Tollhouse, Setchey.
Single storey carrstone and yellow brick building with slate roof. Half-polygonal bay to road. Marked on Faden's map 1797 as 'T.Pike Gate'. Building is not listed and has a fresh appearance so may have been restored.
Seen only in passing.

In fact the building is a reconstruction of 1979 ten feet (3m) back from the original site, the foundations whereof remain.
