February 1995. Field Observation.
Visited by E. Rose (NLA).
Stone archway with hoodmould; three centred; hinge pins remain; some tiles used as packing courses, 14th/15th century. Now set in Maison du Quai, a house of flint and brick of 19th-century date at earliest; rear wall seems all 20th century; arch leads to passage with bressumer (a reused beam) at far end.
Adjacent is Archway Cottage, apparently of same recent date; but a rear wing runs east from it. [1] stated the 'adjacent' house to the arch had a blocked mullioned and transomed window at the rear. This rear wing certainly has brick jambs of blocked windows around the present recent openings, but they have no evidence of any great age.
Only the archway is listed.
