Summary

Metal detecting between 1994 and 2022 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval to post-medieval jettons; medieval and post-medieval tokens and a range of other, Middle Bronze Age and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Middle Bronze Age spearhead fragment; a possible Roman handle; Early Saxon brooches; a Late Saxon/medieval blunt hook (possibly from a dish, bowl or similar vessel); medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval harness mounts, horse-harness pendants, a possible knife guard, dagger chape, possible casket binding strip, harness or box mount, loop handle and copper alloy 'paper-clip' vessel repair rivet; a medieval/post-medieval purse frame fragment and coin weight and post-medieval thimbles, a possible sword-belt fitting, spur fragment and furniture mount.

1) Six medieval coins, one post medieval jetton. See list in file.
2) Medieval ?knife guard, lentoid plate with slit in centre.
3) Medieval double looped buckle.
4) Medieval folded belt-plate or attachment plate for fastener. Single rivet.
5) Medieval fastener, broken loop and folded attachment plate. Two rivet holes.
6) ?Medieval lead ?token. Quatrefoil, central lozenge. Three pellets in each foil.
7) 14th century ring-brooch, pin with moulded collar.
8) Medieval D-shaped buckle, grooved pin rest, loop of pin on pin-bar.
9) Medieval cast crescentic strap end with elaborate trefoil terminal; engraved linear decoration on forked spacer plate from buckle front plate and sheet back plate.
10) Medieval strap end, pierced loop terminal. Openwork decoration on front (almost like two eyes on an animal head). Broken back plate.
11) Medieval rectangular loop handle with projecting acorns at corners and central moulding. Two tapering 'arms' to pass through loops on box etc.
12) Medieval forked spacer plate from buckle.

March/April 1995. Metal detecting.
1) Medieval/early post medieval purse frame fragment with integral loops.
2) Loop of medieval ring brooch, diameter 32 mm.
3) 14th century buckle, oval frame with part of forked spacer plate.
4) Late medieval double-looped buckle. One loop surviving, with half-round outer frame diagonally moulded. Ribbing at each end of pin bar. Pin of flatish section.
5) Strip of bronze, probably a medieval buckle frame distorted. Ends curled around to take (missing) pin bar. Part of one surface (formerly the pin rest) decorated with rocker-arm.

May/June 1995. Metal detecting.
Park Farm A.
1) Two medieval coins and two medieval/post medieval jettons. See lists file. Identified by J. Davies (NCM).
2) Medieval ?casket binding, thin double strip at right angles to wider strip. Both broken. To one side of narrow strip is a folded rivetted loop with trapezoidal base. Opposite loop wider strip has worn delicately incised shell-like motifs.
3) Medieval strap end fragment, scalloped top edge, one rivet.
Identified by S. Margeson (NCM).
4) Early post medieval fastener, ?from sword belt, lentoid, with moulded decoration and rivet hole at each end; one terminal lobed, other with circular button to engage eye of counter plate.
Park Farm B.
1) One post medieval jetton. See list in file. Identified by J.Davies (NCM).
2) 14th century annular brooch or buckle, sturdy pin with moulded collar.
3) Medieval strap end spacer plate with acorn terminal (circular open frame with forked arms above).
4) Early post medieval thimble, with spirally applied punched dots.

April/May 1996.Metal detecting. Park Farm 'A'. [1].
1) English coin weight. Uniface. For a ryal. 15th/16th century, 7.37g. Identified by J. Davies (NCM).
2) Simple medieval dagger chape, of folded overlapping sheet. Nine engraved vertical lines at top on front, base missing.
3) Unusual domed medieval sexfoliate belt mount. Central rivet with roughly circular rove (and remains of leather). Heal of rivet projecting from front and ending in four-clawed housing for missing ?glass setting.
4) Rectangular (26 by 23mm) medieval belt mount with three rivet holes (one rivet). Incised 'X' within incised border.

Medieval buckle frame with integral plate. In form this buckle looks like a spur buckle, but is far too big. The frame is oval and could accommodate a strap of 28mm. The plate is long, thing and D-shaped in section with a pin hole and two rivet holes both blocked by iron corrosion. The outer rivet hole is in a rounded terminal. Identified by H. M. Geake (NCM).
