Map

March/April 1995. Metal detecting.
Several medieval metal items were recovered while metal detecting. The items were identified as a medieval gilded harness boss, a medieval buckle and plate, a medieval buckle with a moulded pin rest, a medieval harness mount, and one medieval coin. The gilded harness boss is with a flange pierced with four rivet holes, decorated in the centre of the boss with a worn stamped decoration 'sunburst' around two concentric roundels (Is there a coat of arms in centre?).The harness mount has a pierced lobed terminal, a bar with three rectangular loops and between them two circular bosses pierced, one with rivet in situ. This can be compared with (S1) Figure 40, Number 2. Presumably an upright shank (and pendant) was riveted into circular boss.
See coin description in file.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 9 June 1995.
