Summary

A Roman pottery sherd and a Roman tessera were found during fieldwalking at this location in 1995. Subsequent metal-detecting in 2017 recovered Neolithic/Bronze Age flint flakes and a core; Roman, Late Saxon, Late Saxon/medieval, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval and post-medieval coins; a medieval jetton and a range of other, Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an undated lead weight; a Roman brooch; an Early Saxon buckle, wrist clasp and mount; a Middle/Late Saxon pin fragment; a Late Saxon bridle cheek piece and stirrup-strap mount; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval scabbard chape, lead ampulla, lead weight and lead spindle whorl or weight; medieval/post-medieval candlestick fragments, a purse bar fragment, scabbard chape, copper alloy ring, copper alloy vessel fragment and lead weights and post-medieval harness mounts.
