Summary

Metal detecting from 1996 to 1998 recovered a number of objects from the Roman to medieval period. This includes a fragment of a thickish copper alloy sheet, with one silver surface and decorated with two spirals of a running spiral design, which was probably once enamelled. It has been identified as perhaps part of a hanging bowl escutcheon with a central aperture, and dates to the 7th century.
