Summary

Metal detecting in 1996 recovered an Early Saxon gold ornament. Surface finds in the area consisted of Iron Age, Roman, Saxon and medieval pottery fragments.

Late Early Saxon gold bracteate. See (S1) for full details. See also (S2). Very close search in immediate surroundings failed to produce any other finds.
Surface finds in general area:
One body sherd hard, grey gritty pottery. Iron Age? Or Roman.
One jar rim and 4 body sherds Roman greyware.
One Thetford type jar rim.
One bowl rim and 2 body sherds medieval unglazed.
One base ?Glazed Grimston or ?Roman.
Pottery NCM.
