The cropmarks of a trackway of probable medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs leading from The Street, Billingford, up towards Bintree to the north (S1-S3). The site is centred on TG 0166 2080. The trackway is marked on the 1837 Billingford Tithe map (S4), the 1700-25 Estate map of Beck Hall (S5). The presence of the track is also suggested by the Estate map of Billingford dated to around 1600 (S6). The track runs inbetween enclosed pasture and strip fields in-between Billingford and Bintree and given this relationship it is likely that route dates back to the medieval period.
S. Massey (NMP), 28 February 2008.
