Map

29 June 1990. NAU air photography.
Double concentric ring ditch and trackway on Lemon Hill.
D. Edwards (NAU).

The trackway curves from an existing trackway to northeast down to the railway and has branches from it; it may be part of a relatively recent field system, perhaps pre railway and perhaps not, and may not be connected with the very fine double ring ditch.
E. Rose (NLA), 5 September 1996.

June 2003. Norfolk NMP.
The site previously identified as a concentric ring ditch not mapped as part of NMP. The concentric rings are partially visible as cropmarks within an amorphous lighter area on the NLA oblique aerial photographs from 1990 (S2). The site would appear to be archaeological in origin. However reference to the Ordnance Survey aerial photographs from as late as 1969 (S1) reveals a large oblong mound or knoll. It is possible that this is a former barrow site, but the irregular size and surface appear more like a natural knoll. The area is defined on the 2nd edition map (1902-7, 25 inch) (S3) as Lemon Hill. It is possible that this raised area is natural, which has then been cut into creating the concentric ditches. However these could equally be geological bands showing as cropmarks.
S. Massey (NMP), 28 May 2005.

April 2021. Field Visit.
A field visit by member of the public noted that the site remains a distinct raised area within the surrounding field. The cropmarks seen in 2017 aerial imagery were not visible from the overlooking railway bridge. The site is currently under plough.
