Summary

Traces of undated 'entrenchments' are reported in old records. A 'pavement' and a possible hoard of several Danish brass coins are also recorded.

'Danish coins found' marked on (S1). Hoard? Listed in (S2) under Barney.
R. R. Clarke (NCM).

(S3) couples this find with a 'tessellated pavement' and 'earthworks still visible' and said the coins were brass, in the collection of Phillippo at Phillippo's Farm, but the present owners there have no knowledge of them.

Actual quote from (S3) is 'On the Hills east of the village are traces of entrenchments near which a curious pavement and several brass coins were found and are now in the possession of Mr W. S. Philippo'.
