Summary

This timber-framed building, apparently originally a three-cell, two-storeyed house. Although it appears to date to 1700, stripping has revealed a 16th-century frame at the south end, which was partially rebuilt in the late 17th century. The house was extended in the 19th century, when it became a public house, and again in the 20th century.

Timber framed building, apparently a three-cell, two storey house with off-centre stack, dating from around 1700; though possibility of older origins cannot be ruled out. Extended in 19th century, perhaps when it became a public house, and again in 20th century.
See report and plan in file.
Compiled by E. Rose (NLA), 23 December 1996.

Evaluatory stripping confirmed possibility of older origin. 16th century frame at south end, probably with firehood, was part rebuilt and had stack remade in late 17th century.
See additional report in file.
