Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking between 1996 and 2017 recovered prehistoric worked flints, including a possible arrowhead, scraper, knife, retouched flake and flakes; a burnt flint possible 'pot boiler'; prehistoric or Early Saxon, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a fragment of post-medieval cereamic building material; Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval coins and a number of other, Early Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an Early Saxon brooch; an Early to Late Saxon unidentified copper alloy object; a medieval harness hount, pendant, and lead seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval book clasp and a post-medieval clothing or book fastener, lead trade weight and lead fitting/escutcheon. A medieval/post-medieval iron key was found during garden landscaping in 2021.
