The site previously referring to a 26v pillbox has been extended to include some World War Two military huts and a small section of slit trench, visible on aerial photographs (S1-2). The date of this slit trench may also be World War Two, although it has a slightly crenellated design and therefore may date to World War One. The site is centred on TG 1134 4326.
The pillbox is located within the hedgeline at TG 1136 4324. To the immediate north of this in 1946 is a line of seven rectangular huts, most likely nissen huts, measuring 12m by 5m. At the western end of the line is a smaller hut, 6m by 5m.
The slit or practice trench is not visible on the 1946 aerial photographs (S1). The feature was only identified as a cropmark on Ordnance Survey vertical photographs from 1981 (S2). The fact that the trench is not visible in 1946 and it has a crenellated design would indicate that it is World War One in date, although it is also possible that it dates to the very early years of World War Two.
(S1-2).
