Summary

A field survey in 1996 recorded the presence of a common 1940 type 22c pill box on this site. The majority of the shuttering had gone by this time. Aerial photography of the site by 1946 recorded possible roadways to the southeast, and this is known to have been the site of a searchlight battery during World War Two.

February 1946. RAF aerial photograph shows faint traces of circular structure and possible roadways to south-east of pill box - which is still shown on Ordance Survey maps at north end of hedge.

October 1998. Visit confirmed site as that of a searchlight battery.
