Summary

A watching brief during development of the water service in the Holt area identified a dense scatter of recovered prehistoric burnt flints. There were no archaeological features. It is interpreted that the small number of medieval objects and lack of features found suggests there is no medieval activity in this area.

1997. Watching Brief.
Observation of water pipe line.
Very dense scatter of burnt flints identified immediately south of the Baconsthorpe Castle access road.
Other finds recovered included post-medieval pottery, tiles and lead waste.
