Summary

Roman Aesica-type brooch with semi-cylindrical wings open at back for spring. Rear facing hook in centre. Front of wings decorated with single oblique grooves. Bow has a vertical border groove down each edge and a central crest funning up to the rear facing hook. The leg is flat and rounded and has an inverted triangular moulding with double step around the edge. The foot is flared, creating a keyhole-like shape. It's undecorated and has a catchplate in the reverse. See (S2) . 1st century AD.
