Summary

Metal detecting recovered a Roman coin of Vespasian minted between AD 69 and 79, and two Hod Hill type Roman brooches made in the 1st century AD.

July 1997. Metal detecting.
Roman Hod Hill brooch, rather corroded, with what looks like a surviving bronze pin. Wings are short. Bow has a high central ridge on either side. At junction of bow and leg is a ?transverse moulding or ?pair of worn side lugs. Leg tapers to double transverse moulding at foot. Catchplate on reverse. 1st century AD.
