Summary

Metal detecting from 1997 to 1999 recovered a range of objects, including Roman coins and brooches, a Saxon hooked tag, medieval coins and buckles and a post medieval coin and button.

November/December 1997. Metal detecting. Field 27. Two finds so far.
Medieval coin. See list in file.
Part of medieval buckle with integral hollow plate. Frame largely missing but appears to have been oval. Plate has narrow solid section, then a flaring sub-rectangular hollow part, of which three sides are cast in one, with back plate made separately ?soldered on. Four rivets are visible. Front plate is decorated with lettering His or ihc, but obscured by corrosion. 15th century.
