Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 1997 recovered a 10th century brooch. It was decorated in an Anglo Scandinavian style and featured three animal heads.

Late 1997. Metal detecting.
Late Saxon convex disc brooch, now rather worn. Raised border around relief decoration of three Borre style animal faces looking towards the centre of the brooch, seen from above. Between the animals are lobes of a trefoil. On reverse is a broken, transverse pin lug and a smooth patch onto which a catchplate was probably soldered.
Anglo Scandinavian. 10th century.
