Summary

Fragments of pottery dating from the Roman to the medieval periods found in 1956 and 1979. The post-Roman material may relate to the site of Leziate shrunken village (see also NHER 3409 and 14472).

Fragments of Late Saxon Thetford ware and greyware with hot-cross-bun stamp, ?Middle Saxon.

9 April 1979. Visited by A. Rogerson (NAU).
27 sherds medieval and Thetford type wares.
Roman bowl rim; Roman pedestal base with central hole.
Clarke's identification of above stamped ware as Middle Saxon would probably not be accepted nowadays.
