September-October 2010. Building Survey.
The survey revealed that the grade II listed barn had functioned as a threshing barn and comprised two main phases of construction dating to the 18th and 19th century. The other buildings within the complex were dated to the early and late 19th century and were likely to have be used to shelter cattle and horses. The earliest map depicting the complex is Bryant's map of Norfolk (1826), drawn from surveys carried out between 1824 and 1826, which shows the threshing barn and a number of other farm buildings (S1). The function of many buildings was unclear due to the removal of fixtures and fittings but it would appear that the earlier buildings housed horses, carts, and crop processing equipment associated with wheat and corn arable farming. Cattle were later introduced and accommodated as the farm expanded.
