Summary

Metal-detecting in 1998 and 2015 recovered a Neolithic/Bronze Age flint flake; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval tokens and Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooches and a steelyard weight; an Early Saxon apex disc from a shield boss; a Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval copper alloy vessel fragment, thimble, harness mount and plaque depicting a human figure; medieval/post-medieval lead weights, "paper-clip" rivets, a copper alloy vessel fragment and a hooked book clasp and a post-medieval clapper bell, harness mount, thimble and lead cloth seals.

Post medieval/recent finds, also;
Bronze low thimble with straight rim with no decoration. Worn remains of small hand-made circular indentations cover sides and most of top; crown is 'tonsured' with a single central indentation. Late medieval/early post medieval.
Originally gilded harness mount, two lozenges joined by a central transverse bar; two sturdy attachment spikes on reverse. Early post medieval.
Lead cloth seal, well preserved but as yet unidentified. Arms on obverse with ?scrolls instead of legend around (possibly letters OLT or OTT can be made out plus two S shaped scrolls). On reverse '20' indicates twenty yard length of cloth. Probably 16th/18th century. (S1) NCM.
