Full Description
Front garden (formerly known as Council Houses).
Air raid shelter.
Discovered by accident 1998, this is aligned north to south; the roof is flat tarred concrete within though the exterior is rounded. 2.5m by 2m by 1.75m high. Two pipe vents in roof. At north end, slope to a door from west, door only 0.75m high; at south end similar but larger slope had iron steps to door 1.5m high. Interior later filled with clay.
At centre of row of houses by communal pump, this seems to have been intended to serve the whole row despite its small size. It is noteworthy that since renovation the houses have the appearance of the 1950s rather than 1930s.
