Summary

A lime kiln that has a brick arch with an iron door leading to an underground passage and the bell of the kiln. The kiln is shown on Faden's map of 1797.

Lime kiln.
Brick arch gives access to underground passage round bell of kiln, with brick arch framing iron door for drawing lime off.
Junction of passage roof with bell at right angle instead of barrel-vaulting is unusual. Interior of bell full of soil and
rubbish. Probably 19th century. Encroached upon by tipping into pit. Bat wintering site.
