Summary

In 1999 a pipe tamper made from copper alloy was recovered from this area. It is exceptionally small, and is thought to date from the second half of the 16th century, or the first half of the 17th century.

Pipe tamper made from copper alloy. The flat 'business end' is only 8 mm in diameter; above this is a solis round part and then a broken-off handle (old break). Exceptionally small; must date from the second half of the 16th century or the first half of the 17th century.
