One struck flint flake, 6 burnt flints, four unglazed sherds and one glazed sherd of medieval pottery, three sherds of post medieval pottery, and four fragments of post medieval ceramic building material were recovered. The medieval pottery was identified as primarily 13th to 14th century local unglazed wares and was concentrated at the southern end of the area walked.

March-May 1999. Excavation.
Excavation on route of Bacton to Great Yarmouth pipeline (Site 1N).
Excavation at the southern end of this field recorded a north-south ditch which corresponds with a field boundary and has been dated to the post medieval period. Shotgun cartridges were recovered from its fill, and the landowner informed excavators that a hedge was removed in the 1970s. An undated east-west ditch was also recorded and a single flint blade was recovered from the fill.
The excavation continued into the adjacent field, RDX 7.3, where a Middle to Late Bronze Age circular structure was recorded. See NHER 33959 for further details.
