Summary

Two late 19th/early 20th century open areas that were laid out with the intention of enhancing the Hunstanton sea front. Boston Square was established by 1890, with Lincoln Square developed between 1904 and 1937. Ornamental trees and planting remain, although part of Boston Square is now a car park. The two squares were named after Lincolnshire towns that can be seen across the Wash.

Map

Norfolk Historic gardens Survey grade two star.
Two open areas named for the views of the west coast of the Wash. Boston Square laid out by 1890 but not originally with houses to each side; Lincoln Square not laid out until after 1904 and before 1937, on glebe land. Boston Square was on LeStrange land and originally the property of the Garden House hotel. Both were intended to enhance the sea front development. Ornamental trees and planting remain, though part of Boston Square is a car park and part is to become a sensory garden.
