Summary

Metal detecting here in 1998 recovered the guard or pommel from a rounded dagger. The slightly domed octagonal plate had a central rectangular slot for the tang and was decorated on the convex surface. This piece was dated to the mid 14th to 16th century.

1998. Metal detecting.
Guard or pommel from a rounded dagger. A slightly domed octagonal Ae plate (33-36mm across) with central rectangular slot for tang. Decorated on convex surface with rockes-arm in geometric patterns. Concave sides has lots of decayed ?solder. Mid 14th to 16th century.
