Summary

The 18th century barn attached to this farm has an earlier east gable end but was heavily rebuilt in the 18th century. In this rebuilding large slabs of reused Roman building material probably from Branodunum Roman fort (NHER 1001) were used.

Map

The Farm, London Street.
Reused material in barn.
Barn of around 1800, incorporating older gable wall in east end. In build of 1800 are several slabs probably of Roman stone from the fort - certainly this occurs in the wall along the street to the west. Extension on west of barn has some limestone. Catslide to south has very large slabs of ironbound conglomerate but these probably derive from a natural outcropping.
