Summary

In 1972 human remains, flints, cobbles and bricks were found here during the digging of an electricity trench. Documentary evidence suggests that a medieval chapel dedicated to St Peter existed in this area. In 2008, surface finds and geophysical survey confirmed the presence of a building, and an evaluation is planned.

2008. Fieldwalking and metal-detecting recorded an area of flints and mortar, and geophysical survey recorded a rectangular two-cell building, the square east end of which was later replaced by an apsidal cell. There are plans to conduct an archaeological evaluation of the chapel as part of the West Acre History Fair on 24/25 August 2008.
