Summary

In 1992 a Beaker bowl was found during the installation of a septic tank. It may have come from this site, although it may instead have been discovered at NHER 40880.

1992. Stray find. Middle Cottage. Excavating for sealed septic tank.
Hole not seen but pot came from spoil heap. No other materal seen. Reported to W. F. Milligan (NCM), January 1997.
Beaker bowl with rusticated decoration. See description in file. Identified by E. Martin (Suffolk Archaeological Unit), 11 February 1998.

Informant [1] states that the location marked on NHER map is probably incorrect. This is now 3 Smithy Cottages; 2 and 3 were once one building and may have been known as Middle Cottage, but he believes that NHER 40880 is more likely the correct site.
