Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking in this area between 1999 and 2000 recovered a Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blade; Middle Saxon, medieval, post-medieval and undatable pottery sherds; a post-medieval coin and ?Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a ?Roman lead weight; a medieval/post-medieval buckle and cast ring; post-medieval musket balls and an undatable lump of lead casting waste.

January-February 2000. Metal detecting.
3 medieval pottery sherds (2 sherds unglazed ware, 1 sherd unglazed ware with thumb-pressed decoration)
1 medieval/post-medieval double looped copper alloy buckle frame, both loops oval, with bevelled edges. Measures 24mm by 20mm.
1 post-medieval pottery sherd (Glazed Red Earthenware).

February-March 2000. Metal detecting.
1 Mesolithic/Early Neolithic retouched flint blade. A small blade of dark brownish flint with a shallow notch on the right lateral edge, near the distal tip, formed by ventral retouch. Both lateral edges have signs of wear.
1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd (basal sherd, slightly pimply Ipswich ware).
3 medieval pottery sherds (2 unglazed body sherds, 1 body sherd glazed and 1 very abraded bodysherd ?glazed).
2 post-medieval pottery sherds (Glazed Red Earthenware)
2 undatable pottery sherds (base sherds reduced, medieval or earlier).
