NHER 35293 (Find Spot record) - Medieval and post medieval metal finds

December 1999 - January 2000. Metal detecting. Field 3.
Three metal objects were recovered:
1. A medieval unidentified object which appears complete. Made of bronze and sub-rectangular, it is decorated on the front with radiating grooves, some (at the bottom) short and other (at the top) long, with a slight waist in between. It may have been intended to resemble a shell. On the reverse is a rounded boss with a rectangular hole in the centre, presumably a fixing. It is the right size (21 mm long by 16mm wide max) for a belt mount, but this identification is not certain.
2. A crude cone of lead which is possibly a medieval weight. The sides are straight and steep before flaring more gently at the bottom. The top has been crushed and may have lost a suspension loop. The item now weighs 22.87g (0.8oz).
3. A medieval/post medieval cast bronze ring of flattish section, 27mm in diameter. This may be a medieval brooch or buckle frame, or perhaps a medieval/post medieval suspension or harness ring or part of a chain.
