Summary

Metal-detecting between 2000 and 2019 recovered a medieval coin and post-medieval jetton; as well as Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds consist of Late Saxon/medieval spindle whorls; a probably medieval decorated copper alloy disc of uncertain function, and a similar disc-shaped possible trial piece; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy veseel fragment, candlestick, and cloth seal.

Early post medieval Lion of St Mark jetton. Obverse: lion with halo entirely within the border, holding a book. Reverse: large orb within trefoil with points in the angles. Fictitious legends. Anonymous Nuremberg issue of about 1500 to about 1570. See (S1) 1097 to 1101. Identified by H.M. Geake (NCM).

April to May 2000. Metal detecting. Found with previously reported finds. [1].
Copper alloy disc with cast gilded decoration on one face, iron staining on the other. Eight grooves radiate from the centre; a constant angle between them (i.e. as a saltire over a cross). In each angle is an inverted triangle with a central dot and surrounded by a palmette.
Presumably medieval. Function uncertain, no visible means of attachment.

Probable medieval lead disc with engraved lines and rocker arm. Possibly a trial piece.

Note this object is similar to the disc recovered in 2000, possibly sugggesting a manufacturing site nearby.
