Summary

Part of a quern stone, probably dating to the Roman period, was found by chance in 1998. Metal-detecting in 2013 and 2014 recovered Roman and medieval coins as well as Roman and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch, a medieval buckle and a medieval/post-medieval button, silver dress hook,, buckle and copper alloy vessel leg.

Found in hedge in area of TF 769 388.
Quern stone, made of sandstone, very worn with exceptionally large hole (maximum diameter about 140mm) towards top. Conceivably had another stone within this hole.
Tapering hole on side (diameter 50mm) breaks right through to flat underside.
Other holes due to wear/accidental damage.
Maximum height 90mm, central hole tapers to about 55mm at bottom.
Probably Roman.
