Map

Farmhouse of around 1730 with 19th century service wing. Flemish bond brickwork. Two storeys and attic, three bay front, ground floor windows reduced. Platband to façade and end walls. 19th century door. Two dormers. Stack to south. Interior of main house has complete 18th century panelling in south room also dado rail, moulded beams, modillion cornice, doors. Fine closed string staircase with twisted balusters etc. Also first floor panelling. Service range with plain interiors.
Description taken from (S1), which adds at end 'Sunk quadrant bridging beams' (ie ovolo-moulded) as if this refers to the service wing. Such beams are normally around 1600. Does this mean imitations or is there an older core to this wing?
E. Rose (NLA), 30 June 2000.

The beams mentioned are in fact simply reeded 19th century beams; but the main block may well have evidence of a 17th century origin in a large kitchen fireplace. Otherwise (S1) is correct but underplays the quality of the interior. The façade and roof are 19th century remodellings.
